Songs from the Rainshadow's Edge, or selflessness, a new song cycle based on the loss and recovery of the Self, with music and poetry by me, will have it's world premiere ON FRIDAY MAY 11th!

Redshift will be presenting this at the Cultch on the concert: MERIDIANS. This concert also features a brand new work by composer-bassist extraordinaire Mark Haney based on Terry Fox and his Marathon of Hope, as well as the debut performance of the Mars Ensemble - Mark McGregor (flute), Marcus Takizawa (viola), Martin Fisk (percussion), and Mark Haney (double-bass), with special guests Kathleen Allan (soprano), Adrian Verdejo (electric guitar), and Adrienne Wong (narrator). Lighting design by Wlad Woyno, sound design by Martin Ritter, and projections by Corwin Ferguson.

Shadow Catch, a new chamber opera about the history of Vancouver's Downtown Eastside written by Daphne Marlatt with music by Dorothy Chang, Benton Roark, Jennifer Butler, and Farshid Samandari (and produced, with lotsa help, by yours truly), premiered on December 2nd to a sold out house and followed with a run of full houses at the Firehall Arts Centre. Micheal Mori as the Asahi Ball Player and Melanie Adams as the Tree Spirit are shown left here in their memory songs (photos by Tim Matheson). A key Out of Times, an aria from the fantasy-opera work-in-progress Alley's Grocery, or Scenes from a Fairy-Tale Apocalypse, was premiered by a large chamber ensemble featuring soprano Kathleen Allan and conducted by Charissa Bagan in Vancouver's Ryerson United in April 2011. Congruency was given a powerful performance by the 2010 Erasmus IP ensemble in Cuneo, Italy in May.

Your Letter At Last (Guillaume Pigé:Creator/Performer) received a four-star review in Dublin for its premiere in 2009 and has enjoyed two subsequent productions in London and in Lyon, France.
